  7. With my ongoing saga to find my perfect song, I came across a movie that was a bit refreshing.  Interstella 5555 is a visual release of Daft Punk’s album Discovery.  Each track is an episode in the film of the abduction and rescue of an interstellar pop band.  As we all know Daft Punk is a futuristic DJ duo known for concealing themselves in robotic masks to conceal their identity.  The duo has been inspiration for Kanye West and also preformed at the 2008 Grammys along side West, which was their first live televised performance.

In order to capture the album in animation, they decided to collab science fiction and popular entertainment to create Interstella 5555:  The animation and Direction was by Leiji Matsumato and Shinji Shimizu to give the film the Tokyo anime vibe.  The film has no dialogue, focusing solely on the music and animation.  Interstella 5555 was featured on MTV and Cartoon Network in 2003 to reach the masses with popularity of the two channels.

This is definitely not a sing along or musical, but more of an anime rock opera with significant visuals that allow to draw your own story to create your personal narrative that will surely change your mood for the better.  A bit of a change of pace to lighten up the all of my hip hop head friends—Reece
